Lauren Maria Medina

I was born and raised in rural New Jersey and began my journey in performing playing softball, after I realized I liked singing my team’s cheers a whole lot more than stepping up to bat. (That year I had been awarded a “best effort” participation medal, if that tells you anything about my batting abilities). I was the kind of kid who was always daydreaming, usually singing, and often completely immersed in my own inner world. Eventually my parents connected the dots and threw me into my first voice lessons and show. I loved it so much that I decided to keep studying at Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama and move to New York.

That love for the work has led me to performing in my city and across the country in an array of different projects I’m deeply proud of. I’ve had the privilege of collaborating alongside creatives who allow me to embody wildly different and complex characters fully and uniquely as my own. Today, I’m motivated to be part of a wide range of work that serves people, communities, and culture for the better. That little Lauren who always had a song in her head is still in me. I want to continue to be part of stories that make other little Lauren’s out there feel as alive as I did witnessing art and performance.

Outside of acting, you can find me on my yoga mat, playing with my band Goodnight Gracie, teaching leadership development skills to kids in New York City Public Schools and exploring Brooklyn and beyond.
